Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov said at an Almaty administration meeting that construction of the road interchange at Raimbek street will start shortly, Tengrinews.kz reports. Prime-Minister Karim Massimov attended this meeting.
As per Yessimov, there is a big need for construction of the interchange at the crossing of Raimbek and Momyshuly streets.
“Akselkent company is constructing a new town for 30 thousand residents. It is going to be similar to Kaskelen (a satellite town near Almaty). It will create a major (traffic) problem for the city. Can you imagine the traffic? You have gaven us 1.5 billion tenge ($10 million), but we will need more funds,” the mayor told Karim Massimov.
Akhmetzhan Yessimov was re-appointed Akim of Almaty on April 13.
