Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan and Russia will change the terms of the agreement on the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Deputies of the Mazhilis have adopted the relevant bill.
As noted by Mazhilis deputy Aidos Sarym, the purpose of the bill is to ratify the protocol on amendments to the agreement between the government of Kazakhstan and the government of Russia on the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
"The agreement is amended in terms of postponing the start of flight tests from 2023 to 2025; providing the Baiterek joint venture with tax preferences, increasing the obligations of the Russian side to load the complex from 2 to 3 launches per year. Another goal of this bill is aimed at ensuring the rights of Kazakhstani citizens," Sarym said at a plenary session of the chamber.
The Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security will prepare a conclusion on the bill, after which the document will be considered at a plenary session.
The Baiterek space rocket complex is a joint project of Kazakhstan and Russia launched in 2004 to create a structure for launching environmentally friendly launch vehicles at Baikonur.
In October 2020, Kazakhstan and Russia signed a contract for the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex. It was supposed to ensure the launch of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle and its possible modifications with a high level of environmental safety. Subsequently, the launch was postponed several times.
