Tengrinews.kz — Interest in eco-friendly electric vehicles continues to grow in Kazakhstan, citing the Bureau of National Statistics.

As of June 1, 2026, there were 24,634 passenger electric vehicles in the country. Over the past 12 months, their number has increased by 55.6 percent.

For example, last year 15,835 electric cars were registered.

Almaty continues to lead in the number of electric vehicles. The city accounts for 62 percent of the country’s entire “green” vehicle fleet — 15,280 cars.

Astana ranks second, with 2,885 electric vehicles registered, while Almaty region is third, with 1,589 vehicles.

Analysts note that electric vehicles are now registered in all regions of Kazakhstan. However, their distribution remains highly uneven. For example, there are only 78 electric vehicles in Abai region and just 41 in Ulytau region.

Earlier, we looked into why electric vehicles are not as popular in some regions of Kazakhstan.

One of the reasons is that many cities still have few charging stations, while installing a home charger requires additional costs that not all owners are willing to pay.
