Almaty residents spent $400 thousand on tourism

Almaty residents spent 54 412 500 tenge (around $375 thousand) on tourism in 2010. 650 respondents with 150 foreigners among them took part in a survey, Profinance.kz reports. 31 277 100 tenge (around $216 thousand) out of this amount was spent on tickets, visas and other services. Foreigners spent 20 765 200 tenge (around $144 thousand). 34.8 percent of respondents traveled for leisure, almost 33 percent visited their families and 32.3 percent went on business. 53.7 percent traveled by plane, 35.7 used trains, 7.5 percent drove cars and 3.1 went by bus. Earlier Tengrinews.kz reported that 3.4 million tourists visited Kazakhstan in 2010. The number of hotels in Kazakhstan increased by 8.8 percent.
