A plant for processing poultry manure has been unveiled in Shymkent, southern Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of Kazakhstan’s Union of Poultry Farmers. It is the first plant of its kind in Kazakhstan.

Increasing production of chicken at poultry farms has been complicating the environmental situation in Kazakhstan, because poultry manure storage sites facilitate development of pathogenic organisms and pose a threat to people and the environment. “It is a well-known fact that poultry manure is a source of pathogenic microorganisms. Therefore, it is impossible to just throw it away, dump it or use it without processing. Most poultry farms just pile up the droppings for years. A medium-capacity poultry farm (40,000 laying hens or 10 million baby broiler chickens) annually generate from 35 to 83 thousand tons of manure and more than 400 thousand cubic meters of wastewater with high concentration of organic compounds,” the press service of Kazakh Union of Poultry Farmers reported.

The plant will process poultry manure produced by Shymkent Kus poultry farm. According to CEO of Shymkent Kus Aidar Dosbolov, this facility will prevent the accumulation of a strong source of environment’s pollution in a plant’s landfill.

The poultry manure will be processed into a fertilizer that is an environmentally friendly highly effective organic product that can be used for all kinds of crops and in in all types of soil. The technology employed at the forms enables it to retain nitrogen in its organic form. “The plant for processing of poultry manure produces a fertilizer that contains a full set of micronutrient elements and directly stimulates the plants’ photosynthesis,” head of Kazakhstan’s Union of Poultry Farmers Ruslan Sharipov said.
