Greenhouses are going to be built in Zhanaozen, Tengrinews.kz reports citing first deputy Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov. "New production facilities and new projects have to be planned for this town. In particular, we are considering building greenhouses there. I think that this direction is very important for Zhanaozen. We need to establish small and medium businesses, its role has to be increased," Serik Akhmetov said after the government meeting on March 20. The program of development of single-industry towns was presented at the government meeting on March 20. Oblast Akims (Governors) were appointed accountable for this project as per the Prime-Minister's instruction. The commission will be lead by Vice-PM Serik Akhmetov. "Zhanaozen was developed as a town where the majority of the population worked in oil industry at oil fields located there historically. Most of the active working population is currently working inside Zhanaozen town. It is understandable that the production structure changed and oil production went down compared to those periods when maximum oil volumes were produced, that's why new production facilities and new projects have to be considered in Zhanaozen," Serik Akhmetov told the journalists.
