Viagra is the most frequently forged medication in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing a press-conference called Patents' protection from forged medications in Kazakhstan. Besides, Viagra is the world leader for forging because of its high demand. The press-conference participants said that both expensive and cheap medications are usually forged. Up to 10 percent of all medications in Kazakhstan are forged. They are usually sold in small and suspicious pharmacies and through the Internet. There aer number less forged drugs in Kazakstan than in Russia. “The share of forged medications in Russia is 0.07 percent,” said professor of Sechenov Moscow State Medical University Vladimir Dorofeyev. He also noted that countering illegal smugglers requires a ligally defined punishment for forged medications. 19 million tenge ($130 thousand) worth of forged medical equipment has been registered since 2003.
