Maternal mortality has dropped 3-fold in 5 years in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Healthcare Ministry as referring to the meeting of the State office on emergency measures on lowering maternal and infant mortality and blood circulatory system related mortality chaired by Kazakhstan Healthcare Minister Salidat Kairbekova. “According to the official statistics, maternal mortality went down almost 3-fold over the the last 5 years in Kazakhstan, while infant mortality dropped 1.4-fold. The Minister instructed to increase the responsibility of top managers in the regions for quality of medical aid to pregnant, puerperae and parturient women,” the message states. The meeting was attended by heads of healthcare departments of the regions, national and regional healthcare organizations. The meeting studied cases of maternal mortality in Kazakhstan and decided to forward them to the law-enforcement authorities for legal assessment of quality of the rendered medical aide.
