Minister of Healthcare Salidat Kairbekova has met President Nursultan Nazarbayev to report on the progress of Salamatty Kazakhstan program, Tengrinews reports referring to the official website of the President of Kazakhstan. Salamatty Kazakhstan is a national healthcare program of Kazakhstan called to improve the general health of the nation through promotion of healthy lifestyle, improvement of the quality of medical services and introduction of advanced technologies into the healthcare sector in the years 2011-2015. According to the Ministry of Healthcare, the following rates have dropped in the first 9 month of 2013 compared to the same period of 2012: - maternity mortality rate by 24%, - infancy mortality by 17%, - circulatory system disease mortality by 6%, - cancer mortality by 4%, - tuberculosis mortality by 23.6%. After the report Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the importance of working towards decreasing maternity and infant mortality rates. He stressed the significance of applying systematic measures for improving health and increasing life expectancy in Kazakhstan. The President gave specific instructions on strengthening of the health of the nation and creation of a robust healthcare system.
