Snowdrops have come into bloom is South Kazakhstan oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports. The flowers have spread all over the slopes of the hills, fields and even road sides. The first snowdrops appeared in the region in the beginning of February. But a cold snap made them hide again. The flowers are delight for the eyes in South Kazakhstan oblast. The snowdrops are not sold this year in Shymkent. Earlier it was possible to buy a small bunch of flowers near Shymkent flower shops, but no flower pitchers are seen in Shymkent streets this year. Snowdrop species are threatened in their wild habitats and these flowers were registered in Kazakhstan endangered species list. Kazakhstan Penal Code’s article no. 290 protects the flowers. The fine is 850 tenge ($5.7) per one flower for anyone who collects the snowdrops from the wild.
