Oceanarium will be built at Sayran lake in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports. Akhmetzhan Yessimov, Akim (Mayor) of Almaty city, said this during a 2011 summary meeting with the citizens of the city on February 8, Tengrinews.kz reports. However the Mayor didn't specify the time of the project implementation. It is possible that the oceanarium will appear in 2012 or 2013. “An ambitious improvement of Sayran lake facilities is being planned now. As far as you know, the oceanarium is not only a beautiful place to visit, it can also be used to treat children with some diseases. That's why we are going to develop the Sayran lake. Head of Natural Resources Department is here now. He will be responsible for this construction project that will start this year,” he said, answering the citizens' questions. According to him a large-scale works will be implemented at Sayran lake this year. The lake's bottom and shores will be cleaned and recreation zones will be constructed. Yessimov added that Sayran inter-city bus station will be re-located to the suburbs of Almaty. “Yes, we are going to do this in future. But not now,” he said.
