Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov has promised to apply for a postmortem award for Aleksandr Goryunov, if the test confirm that he is not guilty of the tank truck accident in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the mayor as saying at the press-lunch timed to the Journalism Day. 27-y.o. Goryunov died in the morning of June 27 in the petrol tank lorry at the crossing of Seifullin and Kabanbay Batyr streets. The truck flipped over and caught fire that moved on to a residential building and several other cars. Deputy Akim of Almaty Yuriy Ilyin said that the driver saved many people at the cost of his own life. He said that based on the videos from the surveillance cameras and dash cameras, the driver made a brave deed trying to avoid collisions with public transport and other big cars. 27-y.o. Aleksandr was the only son of his parents. He had two children: a 6-y.o. Alina and a 3-y.o. Mariya. An initiative group of Almaty residents has already started collecting money for the driver’s family. A charity account has been opened in the city administration to raise money for the owners of the apartments that burnt in the fire.
