200 people were evacuated from KazMunaiGas building located on Kabanbai batyr street in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Astana Emergency Situations Department. The fire started at 11:53 a.m. External upholstery of the building caught fire from second to tenth floor. First group of fire-fighters arrived to the site one minute after the fire started. They manage to localize the fire by 12:16 p.m. and extinguish it completely by 1:26 p.m. "Astana fire department received the message about the fire in KazMunaiGas building. Evacuation and fire-fighting were initiated because of excessive smoke issuing from the building. There are no casualties,” the press-service stated. According to authority, the fire area was 40 square meters, 15 fire-fighting vehicles were involved. Astana Emergency Situations Department said that contractors of Bazis-A Corporation violated fire safety rules “while performing works on the roof part of the second floor balcony”. The authority confute the version that the fire was caused by a short circuit in Christmas lights.
