4.2-magnitude quake strikes 100km from Almaty

Four earthquake have hit around Almaty on January 30. The most recent fourth one had a magnitude of 4.2, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Seismological Research-Methodical Expedition of Kazakhstan Ministry of Education and Science. The shocks were 15km deep. They were registered at 12:23 p.m. Astana time. The epicenter was 100km east of Almaty. No casualties have been reported. The third earthquake today was a 4.3-magnitude one and was registered at 12:50 a.m. 225km south-east of Almaty. The first -- 3.9-magnitude -- quake today was registered at 10:29 a.m. 225km from Almaty. It was followed by a 4.6-magnitude earthquake 238km south-east of Almaty at 11:27 a.m.
