Kazakhstan and China exchange economic crime suspects

Kazakhstan and China have exchanged two economic crime suspects, Xinhua writes citing the Chinese Ministry of Public Security. On July 4 Kazakhstan extradited a Chinese citizen who was accused on embezzlement of $1.53 million when helping one company change its registration status in 2008. The man had been on the run in Kazakhstan since 2009. He was arrested in Astana in May 2013. Kazakhstan authorities agreed to extradite him after a discussion with the Chinese authorities. In April 2013 Chinese police received a request from Kazakhstan to render support in apprehension of a Kazakhstan citizen accused of embezzlement of $1.37 million. The man had been hiding in China since 2009. He was arrested in Beijing in June 2013 and transferred to Kazakhstan on July 7.
