Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee seized 336,000 packs of cigarettes being smuggled out of the country disguised as construction materials.
On October 17, officers at the "Shagan" border checkpoint in the West Kazakhstan region halted an attempt to transport the large shipment across the state border.
"The tobacco products, totaling 336,000 packs, were concealed under the guise of construction materials, and lacked the required documentation. The estimated value of the confiscated goods exceeds 200 million tenge," the KNB stated.
The seized goods have been handed over to the regional Department of State Revenues for further investigation.
