Astana Opera will sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Real Teatro di San Carlo and Teatro alla Scala, Tengrinews reports.

The management of two legendary theatres will arrive to Astana during tours of their theatres. The directors of the theatres will discuss plans for future cooperation.

In May, Astana Opera along with La Scala presented Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca opera, and in the fall they are planning to stage Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida directed by Franco Zeffirelli.

The Director of the Teatro di San Carlo Rosanna Purchia said that she had heard a lot about Astana Opera. “I am honored to visit this young theatre and discuss our further collaborative work,” Purchia said. She suggested conducting exchange tours, so that next year Naples’ troop performs in the premier of Mozart’s Requiem directed by Boris Eifman, while Astana Opera performs at a dance festival. The theatres also plan to stage Gaetano Donizetti’s tragic opera Lucia di Lammermoor.
