Yaroslava Shevedova wins EA Hua Hin WTA in Thailand

Yaroslava Shvedova, a tennis player from Kazakhstan, has won her second-biggest title at the EA Hua Hin WTA 125 Sereis in Thailand, Tengrinews report citing WTA.


Yaroslava Shvedova, a tennis player from Kazakhstan, has won her second-biggest title at the EA Hua Hin WTA 125 Sereis in Thailand, Tengrinews report citing WTA.

Shvedova beat Naomi Osaka from Japan in the final of the tournament 6-4,6-7(8), 6-4. The final lasted for almost three hours. In the second set, Shvedova had an opportunity to defeat Osaka, but missed it. In the third set, the Kazakhstani tennis player started by losing 4:2 to Osaka. But in the following set, Shvedova managed to win four games straight.

Currently, Shvedova, 28 is ranked 82nd in the WTA ran king, while 18 y.o. Osaka is on the 203rd place. The tennis players had not met on the court before the EA Hua Hin.

Previously, Shvedova won a WTA International event in Baglore, India back in 2008.

The EA Hua Hin WTA has been included in the WTA and ATP this year for the first time. 32 tennis players competed in singles, while 16 competed in doubles.
