The most successful performance by Kazakhstani tennis players at Wimbledon has ended on July 1, Tengrinews reports. Two Kazakhstani girls - Zarina Diyas and Yaroslava Shvedova - left the tournament after defeats in 1/8 finals. Vesti.kz sports website calculated the earnings of the two players.
According to the website, they earned £117,000 each for reaching the fourth round of the competition. Besides both Diyas and Shvedova also competed in the Doubles.
The duo of Zarina Diyas/Patricia Mayr-Achleitner reached only the second round and were paid together £13,000. That is, Diyas owns half of this money. Therefore, Zarina’s total earnings from this year’s Wimbledon are £123,500.
Yaroslava Shvedova and Anabel Medina Garrigues, who ironically beat the couple Diyas/ Mayr-Achleitner, reached only the third round. Thereby, Shvedova added £21,500 to her £117,000. Overall, this earns Shvedova £138,500.
Well done, girls!
