Alexandre Vinokourov, Kazakhstan's Astana cycling team leader, commented the team’s performance in Giro d’Italia race and gave them a B grade, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Vesti.kz. According to the cyclist, victories at two stages of the marathon race are a big success. “We’d like to win more stages. We were counting on the winning a place at the podium; however, we failed to reach it. We have won two stages. Liquigas team counted on Basso and he came fifth. Or take Lampre team: they won no stages, and we won two stages. If we take a five-grade system, then I would give a firm B (4) grade to our team. I’d like to congratulate the guys on finishing the race. Everybody finished the race, everybody is safe and sound,” Vinokourov said. Vinokourov also confirmed that Astana team was negotiating a contract with Italian Vincenzo Nibali. “We are negotiating with Nibali now. Everything will become clear in the beginning of August,” he said.
