Cycling: Astana cyclist retains pink jersey at Giro d’Italia

Italian Vincenzo Nibali, Kazakhstan’s Astana team, kept the pink jersey of Giro d’Italia super marathon cycling race leader after the ninth stage, Vesti.kz reports. Nibali came tenth, losing 1 minute and 3 seconds to the winner of the stage Maxim Belkov from Russia’s Katyusha (4 hours, 31 minutes and 31 seconds). Columbian Carlos Betancur (AG2R) was the second fastest racer to cover the distance of 181 kilometers from Sansepolcro to Florance, and Jarlinson Pantano (Colombia) came third. In the overall ranking Australian Cadel Evans from the BMC Racing and Dutch cyclist Robert Gesink from Blanco are behind Kazakhstan’s Astana captain Vincenzo Nibali. Another Astana's cyclist Estonian Tanel Kangert is in the top ten. There are 21 stages in Giro d’Italia marathon race.
