Tengrinews.kz — Two checkpoints on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border are switching to 24-hour operations. The President of Kazakhstan has signed the corresponding law.

The legislation, dated July 9, 2026, ratifies amendments to the protocol of the Agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan regarding state border crossing points.

According to Kolesa.kz, both passenger cars and trucks will be able to use these checkpoints.

According to the document, the "Syrdarya – Malik" and the "Tselinny – Ok Oltin" checkpoints will be upgraded from bilateral to international status. Furthermore, they will operate 24/7, whereas they were previously only open during daylight hours.

The "Tselinny – Ok Oltin" checkpoint will serve passenger cars, empty trucks, and vehicles carrying oversized or heavy cargo.

The "Syrdarya – Malik" crossing will be open to passenger cars and empty trucks. However, commercial freight transport remains prohibited at this location.
