Captain of Kazakhstan's Astana cycling team Italian Vincenzo Nibali will receive more than 400 thousand Euro for his achievements at the Giro d’Italia super marathon cycling race, Vesti.kz reports. According to the race's official website the prize pool of the legendary Giro d’Italia race makes 1 383 110 Euro. The Astana leader Nibali will receive 289 170 Euro out of the fund for winning the general classification. For his overall victory the cyclist will be given a special award of 90 000 Euro (winner of the second place will be awarded with 50 000 Euro and winner of the third place with 20 000 Euro). Vincenzo Nibali will also pocket 34 thousand Euro for the two stages he won and for being in top 20 of the race. The total amount of his award exceeds 400 thousand Euro. Besides, the cyclist will receive an additional monetary bonuses for possession of the pink jersey and for the King of the Mountains nomination.
