Designers from China and the U.S. will compete for the right to design outfits for Kazakhstan Olympic sportsmen, Vesti.kz reports. The total of 22 applications were submitted for the competition to design sport outfits and formal uniforms for Kazakhstan’s participants of the Sochi Olympics before the deadline of May 27. During a whole day a special commission of 7 people, including representatives of Kazakhstan Agency of Sport and Physical Culture and Olympic champions Olga Shishigina (track and field athlete) and Serik Sapiyev (boxer), were selecting the best offers. The sketches have been uploaded to the Agency’s website for people to vote for the designs they like until May 30. The design that gets the largest number of votes will win the contest. According to the official representative of the Agency Dias Akhmetsharip, designers participating in the contest are not limited to Kazakhstan: “We received applications from Karaganda, Turkestan and Pavlodar (in Kazakhstan). Kuralai Nurkadilova’s fashion house (Kazakhstan-based designer) submitted an application as well. Two applications came from abroad from a Chinese designer and a student from Los Angeles,” Akhmetsharip said. The voting opened at noon today, May 28, on the Agency’s website . The winner of the contest will receive two tickets to the Sochi Olympics-2014.
