Boxing: Gennady Golovkin defended his WBA title

Kazakhstan boxer Gennady Golovkin defended his WBA middleweight champion title by knocking out 28-y.o. Japanese Makoto Fuchigami, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Allboxing.ru. The fight was held in the Ukrainian city of Brovary. The Japanese boxer got a dissection above his right eye in the first round of the fight. Golovkin knocked down his rival in the second round. By the end of the first minute of the third round Fuchigami was on the floor again. He managed to stand up, however. But after several more of Golovkin’s well directed blows referee decided to stop the fight. Golovkin is planning to fight against German boxer Felix Sturm, WBA world super champion next. The fight is scheduled for September 30, 2012.
