Urban countermagnets will be built around large cities of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the First Vice-Minister of Regional Development of Kazakhstan Kairbek Uskenbayev. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the general plan of organization of Kazakhstan’s territory until 2030 during yesterday's session. "New strategic approaches have been adopted to solve the overpopulation problem. It was proposed to establish special zones with regulated development within the commuting range around large cities to harness spontaneous development of the large cities' outskirts. The countermagnets around large cities will help organize the commutations away from the center of the cities," Uskenbayev said at the Government meeting. Besides, the Government is going to focus on restoration and development of rural areas. "The plan offers promising models of resettlement of rural population based on establishing cooperative societies and farm unions to form backbone villages with developed town-forming structure," Uskenbayev continued. Besides, the plan offers conceptual solutions for development of transport networks and usage of competitive advantages of Kazakhstan's transit-friendly location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia to ensure that Kazakhstan's socioeconomic development has a multiplicative effect. Based on the plan, no underdeveloped territories at low stages of industrial development should be left in Kazakhstan by 2030. By Altyna Zhumzhumina
