Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev will take part in the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) that will take place in Milan, Italy, Tengrinews reports citing the presidential website.
Besides ASEM, the Kazakh President will have a number of bilateral meetings on October 16-17.
ASEM is a trans-regional forum, a platform for dialogue and cooperation between Europe and Asia that consists of 51 members. It was officially established in 1996 at the first summit in Bangkok, Thailand.
Kazakhstan is the only member of the forum from Central Asia.
The meetings are aimed at deepening the relations between Asia and Europe at all levels with an ultimate goal of achieving a more balanced political and economic world order.
The process is enhanced by the biennial meetings of heads of state, alternately in Europe and Asia, and biennial meetings of Foreign Ministers as well as political, economic, and socio-cultural meetings and events at various levels.
The theme of the 10th ASEM Summit is Responsible Partnership for Growth and Security. In the first session, participants will discuss financial and economic cooperation, while the second session will focus on the Europe-Asia partnership in addressing global challenges.
