Member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) can enter the Eurasian Union, but there will be no merger of the two organizations, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing SCO Secretary General Muratbek Imanaliyev. “Some of the SCO countries, including Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have been unilaterally informed and are currently considering this issue (ascent into the Eurasian Union). But not all the SCO member-countries are planning to enter it. No one is talking about liaison of the two organizations,” he stressed. Imanaliyev also added that the SCO is giving a lot of significance to interaction with the regional international organizations. “In a meeting with the heads of the CSTO, EurAsEC and CIS on Tuesday we have exchanged out opinions regarding what we can do collectively. We have to develop current cooperation and look for new prospects in this direction,” he added.
