Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has met Russia’s Duma Chairman Sergey Naryshkin, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the President’s Press Service.

“The integration entity, that is the Eurasian Economic Union, is to be launched January 1, 2015. The bilateral relations with Russia have been actively developing. The Union is facing a raft of economic problems due to falling prices for major commodities. (…) However, physical volume of the trade turnover is on the rise, (…) with new JVs being launched”, President Nazarbayev said.

“Here in Russia we do remember and appreciate that it was your idea back in 1994 during a lecture in the Moscow State University for the CIS nations to take geopolitical path [towards integration]”, Mr. Naryshkin said.

Mr. Naryshkin arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital city, to attend a conference on presidents, parliaments and integration. According to him, early autumn 2015 Kazakhstan will be home to a wide discussion of the first results of the Eurasian Economic Union.
