Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed the government and the Parliament to pursue zero tolerance polices and promote zero tolerance for crime in the society, Tengrinews.kz reports. “The government has to legislatively balance the criminal law humanization policies and the zero tolerance for any and all violations in the society,” Nazarbayev said at the joint meeting of the Parliament chambers today. “No one should doubt unavoidability and justness of punishment for any and every crime and violation of the country’s laws”, he said. “We should not encourage negligence of laws by the citizens. If we only encourage, we will end up not punishing anyone for crimes. I think that the parliament will be keeping a close eye on the trend. Adoption of the new legal acts will serve to modernize the criminal proceedings system. Kazakhstan’s legislation will be taken to a new quality level allowing to better ensure protection of rights and freedoms of our people,” the President declared. According to him, the Parliament will have to review the new Criminal Procedures and Penitentiary Codes, as well as the Administrative Offenses Code. “I read them thoroughly and watched their preparation. We have been working on them for a long time. These are very important laws. In essence, a new basis, the one that takes into account the global experience, will be formed for the law-enforcement and judicial systems,” the Kazakhstan President added. By Baubek Konyrov
