Kazakhstan and the USA have adopted a joint actions plan in the energy realm, Press Service of the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Oil and Gas reported. On Friday Astana hosted the 8th sitting of the Kazakh-US Committee for Energy Partnership presided over by Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev and US Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman. “Following the sitting the co-chairmen adopted a joint action plan that outlines cooperation of the two nations in four realms: nuclear safety and nuclear industry; hydrocarbons; renewable sources of energy and energy efficiency; electric power industry”, the statement reads. The sides agreed to work on the current energy partnership agenda and new initiatives that serve interests of both nations, according to the Press Service. “The Governments of Kazakhstan and the USA will be working to strengthen nuclear safety, boost expertise and experience in nuclear power industry, use of renewable sources of energy; besides, they will be facilitating regional cooperation in power industry, diversification of oil and gas export routes and reduction of methane emission”, the statement elaborates. The next sitting of the Committee for Energy Partnership is to be held in Washington in 2012. The date is to be agreed upon later on, the Press Service reports.
