Talgat Gabdulovich Kaliyev has been appointed Kazakhstan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of South Africa, Tengrinews reports citing the official website of the Kazakhstan President. Earlier in his career, Kaliyev served as Charge d'Affaires of Kazakhstan to Romania and worked in Kazakhstan Embassies in Turkey and the United States. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was planning to visit South Africa in the end of last year, but due to changes in his schedule the official visit to RSA was postponed to a later date. South Africa is a new direction for Kazakhstan. Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov stressed that Africa had a great potential and was high on the global agenda.
