Kazakhstan’s cyclist and London Olympic winner Alexandre Vinokourov is likely to be fielded by Nur-Otan party for one of the vacant seats in the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the Vlast.kz magazine. According to the magazine the party has two vacant seats in the Parliament's Lower Chamber - Majilis - at present. One seat was vacated when Nur-Otan party's Bakytkozha Izmukhambetov was appointed Akim (Governor) of Atyrau oblast this August. And the other one became available when Zhakyp Assanov was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan last Thursday. According to the magazine’s source if Vinokourov agrees he is likely to become a Majilis deputy. The party is also considering candidates for the two seats.
