Students of 14 leading Kazakhstan universities have named KazMunaiGas as the employer of their choice of 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the company’s press-service. The survey was held to identify the most preferable employers for students of financial-economic, oil and gas and medical universities. The students were not given any lists of employers to choose from. They were just asked to write where they would like to work after graduation. According to the survey, the top 10 most preferable employers for graduate and junior students are KazMunaiGas (29 percent of respondents), Agip (11 percent), TengizChevroil (10 percent), Procter & Gamble (8 percent), Schlumberger (6 percent), Halyk Bank (6 percent) and Deloitte (6 percent). KazTransOil, KPMG and different medical companies scored 5 percent of votes each. According to the company, the survey also helped identify the major factors that are important for students in their selection. They are career opportunities, stability of work/guarantees, high salaries and good working conditions. The preferred sectors for employment include oil and gas (39 percent), public offices (38 percent) and banks (26 percent). Construction is the least interesting sector for students (2 percent of respondents). Besides, the company’s press-service says that a new concept of centralized trainings of the young experts to meet the needs of KazMunaiGas group is currently being discussed. Such trainings will include gradual work with the students of secondary educational institutions and universities, as well as the engineering interns.
