On October 8, the Prosecutor's Office of the Karaganda region issued a statement, noting that there has been an increase in the spread of false information regarding the fire in the Karakol district in the media and various social networks.

"Unchecked reports create false public opinion and negatively affect public order. The dissemination of deliberately false information is a criminal offense under Article 274 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the statement from the Prosecutor's Office of the Karaganda region said.

The regional Prosecutor's Office urges citizens to trust only official sources of information.

A steppe fire reached the territory of a local farm in the Pavlodar region, covering an area of about 6,000 hectares.
