Khorgos International Centre of Transborder Cooperation is to be launched in July 2011, it was announced today at the 5th sitting of the Subcommittee for Trade and Economic Cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, Kazakh Zerno reports. The sides pointed out that the launch of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and China offers new opportunities for trade ties between Kazakhstan and China. The Kazakh side of the Sub-Committee is headed by Timur Suleimenov, Vice Minister of Economic Development and Trade; the Chinese side was presided over by Vice Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan. A logistic zone is already in place at the border of Kazakhstan and China. The second stage is creation of a special economic zone Khorgos — Eastern gates, featuring a major production zone with a projected annual output of $ 1 billion.
