The second international festival of military brass bands will take place in Astana on May 21-25, 2014, Tengrinews reports citing the Press Office of the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan.

The festival is going to be a part of the third international exhibition of arms and military equipment KADEX-2014 that will be held in Astana on May 22 - 25, 2014.

Military brass bands will perform at the KADEX-2014 exhibition and at the esplanade of the Ishim River, and then march along the Republic Avenue. Besides, Astana residents and the guests of the city will be able to enjoy a tattoo show.

Military tattoo is an entertainment consisting of music, marching, and the performance of displays and exercises by military personnel. The original meaning of military tattoo was a military drum performance.

The Presidential Orchestra of the State Guard of Kazakhstan, Central Military Band of the Defence Ministry of Kazakhstan, Central Orchestra of the National Guard of the Internal Affairs Ministry of Kazakhstan, and military bands of Turkey, the United States of America and France are going to take part in the fest.

KADEX is a milestone event showcasing progress in military equipment and an opportunity to discuss collaboration prospects with foreign government agencies and defence companies.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev participated in the opening of the KADEX-2012 exhibition and stressed that successful KADEX fairs would help bring military technical arsenal of Kazakhstan army in compliance with the best international practices and strengthen the defense capacities of Kazakhstan and its geopolitical standing.

KADEX gives an idea of the level of interest to Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan's interest to the armament of other countries. For example, 253 defence companies, including 83 domestic and 170 foreign companies from 23 countries participated at the second international exhibition KADEX-2012.

Here is a video from the 2012 exhibition:

The Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan, its KazSpetsExport national company and Kazakhstan Engineering national company are the organizers of the exhibition. And Astana-Expo KS is its sponsor.

The KADEX-2014 will be held  at the International Airport of Astana in its military section. The exhibition is open for public and the entrance is free. You are welcome to visit and take a look at the military equipment on May 24 from 10.00-17.00 and on May 25 from 10.00-14.00.
