An equestrian procession dedicated to the memory of the 106th National Cavalry Division will be held on the 70th Victory Day on the streets of Astana, Tengrinews reports citing the city's municipal authorities. The Victory Day is celebrated on the 9th of May in post-Soviet countries.

The idea to recreate the historical scene of the spring of 1942 - sending off of the 106th Cavalry - was put forward by the city's council of veterans. The procession will start at the old square of the capital and proceed along Abai Avenue to Victory Avenue, passing along the 310th Infantry Division Street and finishing on the railway station forecourt.

In addition, there are plans to reconstruct the Square on Victory Avenue and the Monument to two soldiers. This reconstruction, according to the capital\s authorities, involves replacing the lighting of the square and some repair works in the areas adjacent to the monument.

Victory Park will be supplemented by the Walk of Fame with bronze busts of prominent Kazakh folk warriors, Heroes of the Soviet Union and Halyk Kaharmany (National Heroes of independent Kazakhstan) in a single architectural ensemble of the Monument to the Defenders of the Motherland.

Also, there will be an exhibition of paintings by young artists dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory, the exhibition of folk art, books and weapons of the Great Patriotic War. There are plans to hold a festival of military-patriotic songs as well. According to akimat, the state budget will provide $540,000 for these activities.
