Last year 35 judges were fired by a presidential decree. “Judges on the release list got their for various reasons; some on their own free will, including those who failed to perform their duties and willingly asked for resignation. Mostly the list includes judges of regional and city courts. Some those on the list got their for not abiding to judicial ethics. There are those who failed to performed their duties well. They tried, but found that they couldn’t because the job is very hard. No every lawyer can stand it. Judge is the apex of any lawyer’s career and it is very hard to carry this load,” Bektas Baknazarov said commenting the situation in this first press-conference as the chief of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan on July 28.
