President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbyaev and US President Barack Obama had a telephone conversation on April 30. They discussed nuclear security issues, official presidential website Akroda reports. “Much attention was given to nonproliferation issues and implementation of Nazarbayev’s nonproliferation initiatives, including those he voiced at the Nuclear Security Summit on April 2010 in Washington,” the release said. During the conversation Obama and Nazarbayev also discussed current condition and prospects of Kazakh-American relations, and further steps to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two counties. They exchanged opinions on global and regional security, including the situation in Central Asia. President of the United States thanked Nazarbayev for Kazakhstan’s constructive approach to stabilization of Afghanistan. Finishing the conversation Obama praised Kazakhstan progress and wished it to succeed it its socio-economic and political development plans. President of Kazakhstan offered condolences on the multiple victims of the destructive tornados that hit the southern regions of the United States.
