Tengrinews.kz — An intoxicated passenger caused a disturbance at an information desk at Almaty International Airport. The man shouted at bystanders, used profanity, and subsequently shattered a glass display. Shards of glass fell directly onto airport staff.


Tengrinews.kz — An intoxicated passenger caused a disturbance at an information desk at Almaty International Airport. The man shouted at bystanders, used profanity, and subsequently shattered a glass display. Shards of glass fell directly onto airport staff.

According to reported the transport police department’s Facebook page, the incident occurred on the airport's second floor, near the information desk.

Police identified the offender as an intoxicated passenger scheduled for an Almaty–Frankfurt flight.

"The man behaved aggressively, directed profanities at those around him, and struck a glass display case," the transport police department stated.

Following the impact, the glass collapsed onto nearby desk employees. Fortunately, no one was injured.

"Transport police took the offender to the station for further investigation. He was identified as a 32-year-old Canadian citizen residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan and employed by a private company in the city of Arys," the police reported.

Following the investigation, the man was held accountable under two separate charges: appearing in a public place in a state of intoxication and petty hooliganism.

He was issued a fine of 30 MCI, totaling 129,750 tenge.

The transport police department reminded the public that such violations are under strict law enforcement oversight and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
