Tengrinews.kz — German citizen Dieter Albrecht was forced to live in his motorhome in the Aktobe region for over a month following a serious accident. His journey home has finally begun today, thanks to the assistance of local residents who supported the foreigner throughout his ordeal.
Dieter Albrecht's story began on June 6 when, while traveling through Kazakhstan, he was involved in a traffic accident on a highway in the Aktobe region that injured a woman and an infant. Police launched a criminal investigation against the tourist. The Niva vehicle struck by the foreigner's Mazda was completely destroyed, while the traveler's own vehicle sustained severe damage, rendering it undrivable.

While the investigation proceeded and the issue of compensation was being settled, Dieter Albrecht was required to remain in Kazakhstan.
For more than a month, his home was his own trailer parked in the town of Alga. The journey of German tourist Dieter Albrecht, which came to an abrupt halt in western Kazakhstan, has finally resumed.

On the morning of July 11, a convoy consisting of a tow truck and an escort vehicle departed the Alga district for the Russian border. The foreigner will later be met in Latvia, from where he can travel onward to Germany.
"The guys from Aktobe stepped up. His Mazda will be transported on a tow truck. The motorhome will also be taken on a trailer in transit to the Russian-Latvian border. In Latvia, he will be met by others who will help him get back to Germany," said Igor Kleiman, an activist from Alga.
Before his departure, the tourist managed to resolve the primary issue preventing him from leaving Kazakhstan. According to social activists, he has fully compensated for the damages caused in the accident.
"He took out a loan to pay for material and moral damages to the victims (5 million tenge). The parties entered into a settlement agreement stating they have no further claims against the German citizen. Everything was notarized through a lawyer. The matter is fully resolved," Igor Kleiman explained.
Throughout this time, Dieter lived in his motorhome, with his dog remaining constantly by his side. Local residents brought him food, helped with everyday needs, and supported the foreigner who found himself stranded far from home.

"This is a happy moment for Dieter and for everyone who was worried about him. Our caring residents are escorting him to the Russian border. In Latvia, he will be met by a friend who will help organize further transportation to Germany," the activist added.
Local authorities also provided assistance. At the tourist's request, his temporary residence was placed in a secured area, and an interpreter was provided for communication.
"I personally met with the tourist after learning about the incident. (...) Many residents of the district responded to his misfortune and helped him. Today, the German citizen left the Alga district," reported District Akim (Governor) Aslan Shuinshaliev.
Today, this unexpected chapter of his journey has finally come to an end.
Thousands of kilometers of road across several countries lie ahead. However, as the residents of Alga admit, they hope that one day Dieter will return to Kazakhstan—not as a figure in a high-profile incident, but as a regular tourist who can finally see the country as he had dreamed of at the very beginning of his trip.
