Tengrinews.kz — A child who fell from a second-story window of a private house in Almaty and sustained severe injuries has been discharged from the hospital. During an emergency surgery, doctors managed to save his arm despite significant damage.

Condition upon admission

The press service of City Clinical Hospital No. 7 reported that the child's condition was assessed as critical upon arrival. He was in a coma.

Doctors diagnosed the patient with:

  • an open traumatic brain injury;
  • skull fractures;
  • a cerebral hemorrhage;
  • multiple soft tissue injuries;
  • an open humerus fracture;
  • damage to the brachial artery;
  • forearm fractures;
  • traumatic hemorrhagic shock.

Immediately after hospitalization, medical staff treated the wounds, performed diagnostic tests, stabilized the patient's condition, and prepared him for emergency surgery.

The life-saving surgery

The operation was performed jointly by specialists from City Clinical Hospital No. 7 and Children's City Clinical Hospital No. 2.

"Doctors restored the damaged brachial artery, fixed the bone fragments, preserved blood flow to the limb, and prevented the development of severe complications," the statement read.

Once the child's condition was stabilized, he was transferred to Children's City Clinical Hospital No. 2. He is continuing intensive treatment there under the supervision of specialists and is undergoing further rehabilitation.

According to Anuar Beibitov, a trauma surgeon at City Hospital No. 7, such cases require maximum concentration and rapid response from all services.

"In this instance, the medical teams from both hospitals worked as a single mechanism. This allowed for the timely execution of necessary surgeries and ensured the child received further specialized treatment," the specialist noted.

Doctors issue plea to parents

Medical professionals also urged parents to be especially vigilant during the summer months when windows in apartments and private homes are more frequently left open.

Daniyar Sabdenaliev, head of the neurosurgery department at Children's City Clinical Hospital No. 2, emphasized that most such incidents are preventable.

"Every fall from a height can lead to severe consequences — from serious fractures to traumatic brain injuries and life-threatening conditions. With proper parental vigilance, most of these tragedies can be avoided. Do not leave small children unattended in rooms with open windows," he noted.
