Tengrinews.kz - Seventy dead seals have been found washed ashore along the Caspian Sea coast near the villages of Akshukur and Sain Shapagatov in the Tupkaragan district.
Environmental specialists from the Department of Ecology of the Mangystau region visited the site and collected seawater samples from the area.
The test results are not yet available.

It is worth noting that last year, more than 130 carcasses of marine animals were discovered in the same areas. In total, over 2,000 seal carcasses were found along the coast. However, this number does not reflect the full picture, as no count is conducted in hard-to-reach areas.
At the time, experts were unable to determine the cause of death, as the bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition, making it impossible to collect samples.
Back then, the Fisheries Committee suggested that the cause of death could be natural phenomena, including the release of natural gases triggered by underwater earthquakes.
Earlier, on April 29, 88 seal carcasses were discovered along the Caspian coast in the Tupkaragan district of the Mangystau region during a monitoring operation by the Zhaiyk-Caspian Interregional Basin Fisheries Inspection.
