$3.6 billion to maintain housing and utilities infrastructure in 2011-2020

Kazakhstan plans to spend on modernization of its housing and utilities infrastructure in 2011-2020 a total of $ 3.6 billion, Serik Nokin, Head of the Agency for Housing and Utilities Infrastructure. According to Mr. Nokin, $1.13 billion will go to modernize utility distribution systems, wheareas $2.45 billion will be injected into repairs of partment blocks, Interfax – Kazakhstan reports. Mr. Nokin informed that most part of utility distribution systems needs modernizing: 63% of heating distribution networks, 73% of electric power supply systems, and 54% of gas supply systems. A total of 31 000 km of utility distribution systems are to be modernized by 2015. For the 10 years, 11 624 apartment blocks are planned to be repaired.
