$294.5 million to finance space exploration projects in 2012-2014

In 2012-2014 Kazakhstan plans to allocate $294.5 million to finance space exploration projects, Bnews.kz quoted Finance Minister Bolat Zhamishev as saying at the government sitting August 27 focused on the draft 2012-2014 state budget. According to him, the amount will go to finance an earth remote sensing satellite, space vehicles assembly and testing facility, high-precision satellite navigation system, KazSat-3 communications satellite, Baiterek (“poplar tree”) space launch complex for the Russia's new booster rocket [the Angara], backup on-ground geostationary spacecraft control system. According to Bnews.kz [citing Finance Ministry], a total of $563 million was to be earmarked for space exploration projects in 2011-2013.
