$14 million a year needed for Almaty power lines

Maintenance of Almaty power lines requires around two billion tenge ($14 million) a year, KazTAG reports. This figure was voiced by Almaty Deputy Akim (Mayor) Yerbol Shormanov in a meeting of the city administration with participation of Samruk Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund representatives. According to Shormanov, wear and tear of power lines is at around 50 percent. “We are planning that no less than two billion tenge will be allocated for maintenance and modification of power lines this and next year,” Shormanov said. Starting from February 2011 the average VAT inclusive electric energy cost makes 12.34 tenge ($0,08) per kWh.
