KazKosmos national space agency will consider cooperating with North-Kazakhstan oblast’s companies, KazTAG reports citing the oblast administration. Akim (Governor) of North-Kazakhstan oblast Samat Yeskendirov met with chairman of Kazakhstan national space agency Talgat Mussabayev. According to Mussabayev, the agency will consider using the region’s industrial potential in the space sector. “We want you to enter into cooperation for production of space vehicles, first rockets, and later maybe even satellites. Rockets are a sure thing, because the specialized plant PZTM (heavy engineering plant in Petropavlovsk) used to produce rocket launchers and rockets, but for other purposes,” the head of the space agency said. The parties stressed at the meeting that development of the space sector was closely linked with scientific developments and means that the new technologies could be integrated in many areas of the everyday lives. On January 6, 2012 Kazakhstan President signed laws On space activities and On amendments in several legislative acts on space activities aimed at ensuring further systematic work in space exploration.
