Kazakhstan's processed goods export growing

49.6 percent of Kazakhstan's processed goods export fell on three regions in 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of the National Export and Investments Agency Kaznex Invest of Kazakhstan Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. According to the survey, Karaganda oblast is in the first place by export of processed goods with the total volume of $4.8 billion. The share of the processed goods in the total region's export makes almost 89 percent. According to Kaznex Invest, the major exported goods are copper cathodes, flat-rolled iron or plain steel and silver. Aktobe oblast is the second leader by export of processed goods: $4.03 billion (36.7 percent of the total export). The region mostly exports ferrochrome, ferrochrome silicon and ferrosilicon manganese. East-Kazakhstan oblast exported processed goods worth $3.71 billion in 2012. This is over 90 percent of the region's total export. According to Kaznex Invest, the region mostly exports zinc, copper cathodes, gold, silver, lead and tantalum. "Speaking of the growth of the processed goods export, the highest growth compared to 2011 was registered in Astana: 136 percent. This happened thanks to export of uranium goods that grew from $728 million to $1.7 billion," the press-service writes. Besides, Kaznex Invest noteы that East-Kazakhstan and Almaty oblasts also improved their export: 44 and 42.5 percent growth, correspondingly. Meanwhile, the overall export of processed goods in Kazakhstan in 2012 made $25.48 billion which is 27.6 percent of the country's total export.
