High-velocity trains are to be launched along another 5 new routes in 2014, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the Press Service of the country’s Transport Ministry. The trains are to be launched along the routes Astana-Kyzylorda, Almaty-Aktobe, Almaty-Zashita, Astana-Zashita, Almaty-Tashkent. The trains are expected to meet the growing demand for passenger carriage and twice reduce the travel time. In 2013 high-velocity trains have been launched along the routes Almaty-Atyrau, Astana-Atyrau, Astana-Semei. The travel time has been reduced almost twofold. The trains comprise 27 Talgo railway cars each, with 22 being passenger railway cars, including 2 grand class railway cars, 2 business class cars and 18 tourist class cars. Apart from the passenger railway cars, each train comprises 3 technical railway cars, a restaurant car and a bar car. One of grand class cars caters to passengers of impaired abilities. Back in January 2013 the route Pavlodar-Astana was extended to Karaganda, and the route Astana-Uralsk was extended to Aktobe. A high-velocity train along the route Astana-Borovoye resort zone was launched July 5.
